If you want to experience the delights of Skerries you have to find it first. A hidden gem, it is hard to believe you are so near to Dublin City center and only 20 minutes from Dublin airport. Tucked away on a peninsula the town could be an island itself and finding it is somewhat of a delight in itself. Having exited the motorway you quickly find yourself on country roads. Skerries harbour is a delight with sailing boats bobbing around and local fishermen lobster fishing in the bay.
The town boasts 2 sandy beaches and wonderful islands and water sports such as kayaking and kite surfing are very popular. The town and harbour along with the surrounding countryside is a walkers paradise. There is a golf course, and a superb public park in the grounds of Ardgillan castle.
